NOT A "ROTTEN SPORT."

AN OPINION OF MRS. MOODY. (Received 12 iioou.) NEW YORK, August 31. In the opinion of Jack Crawford Mrs. Helen Wills-Moody did the right thing when she walked off the court in the United States ladies' lawn tennis singles championship at Forest Hills last Saturday. "It was bad .luck for Helen Jacobs (who was leading 3—o in the final set), but," Crawford declared, "quite correct if Mrs. Moody was suffering, pain. People would have called Mrs. Moody a 'rotten sport' had alio just swung her racquet for three more games. They would have said she wasn't trying, and winning that way might have been more unsatisfactory for Miss Jacobs." Australia and Japan may challenge for the Davis Cup in the American zone next year. Although no official statement was made it was said that the enp plans of the United States Tennis Association will be based upon that assumption.
