GOOD DEMAND.
AUSTRALIAN CITRUS FRUIT. The initial shipment to Wellington of oranges and mandarins from South Australia by the Wanganella was a complete success (says the "Dominion"). The oranges, for the most part a very fine sample of the navel variety, realised from 10/6 to 10/ a case, the number in each case fluctuating according to size. Medium-sized fruit ran to about 75 oranges to the case. They were being retailed in city shops at from 2/ to 4/ a dozen, according to size. The mandarins, the first seen in Wellington for eight, months, were rushed. They brought from 21/ to 26/ a case. The largest sized mandarins were being retailed in some shops yesterday at '2/ a dozen, the smaller at 1/ a dozen.
