The cricket match at Aldershot between the Army and West Indies was drawn. The Britishers scorcd 472 for eight wickets (declared) and 149 for five, also declared. The visitors made 346 (Sealey 106 not out) and 181 for four wickets (Sealey 62 not out). There was a sensation at Hove, wlien Sussex twice dismissed Yorkshire, county .champions, for little over a hundred runs in each innings. The Sussex victory by an innings was the third consecutive defeat of Yorkshire since the championship was decided. J. L. Hopwood, the Lancashire amateur, put up a great double performance against Leicestershire, compiling a century and taking nine wickets for 33 in tho latter county's second innings. Detailed results of the matches, which commenced on Saturday, are: — Middlesex: First innings, 247 (Haig 101, Fender seven for 72); second, 347 (Watkins 83, Hendren 111; Cover five for 72). Surrey: First innings, eight for 402, declared (F. K. Brown 128); second, four for 193 (Squires 85, Block 07). Surrey won by six wickets. Yorkshire: First innings, 115; second, 114 (Pearce five for 34). Sussex: First f'nnings, 249 (Cook 07). Sussex won by an innings and 20 runs. Hampshire: First innings, 221 (Goddard six for 56); second, 93 (G. Brown 52; Goddard four for 8). Gloucestershire: First innings, 403 (Barnet 131, Neale 73, Parker 111; Herman five for 128). Gloucester won by an innings and 89 runs. Lancashire: First inpings, 334 (Hopwood 118, Lister 95); second, 191. Leicester: First innings, 234 (Armstrong 55); second, 120 (Hopwood nine for 33). Lancashire won by 171 runs. Derby: First innings, three for 538, declared (G. M. Lee 128, Townsend 142, ' Smith 129 not out, Worthington 70 not out). Nortliants: First innings, 224 (Bakewell 81, Timms 74); follow-on, 130. Derby won by an innings and 184 runs. Kent: First innings, 336 (Chalk 7S; Voce five for 80); second, seven for 316, declared (Fairscrvice 80, Valentine 83 not out). Notts: First innings, 331 (Freeman six for 124); second, two for 208 (Keeton 100). Kent won on the first innings. Somerset: First innings, 282 (Burrough 61; Mayer five for 51); second, 234.
