EYES ON NAZIS.
FRENCH SUSPICION. CURBING HITLERISM. Will Guarantee Independence Of Austria. DRASTIC ACTION PROBABLE. [United P.A.—Electric Telegraphs-Copyright) (Received 11 a.m.) PARIS, August 27. "We are determined to guarantee the independence of Austria. Small Powers have the same right of free life as stronger countries," said M. Daladier, Prime Minister of France, I prior to his departure on a tour of | inspection of the new frontier, defences. I France believes that Hcrr Hitler's anti-Austrian campaign will not cease , without strong international action, j which France will see is applied if the League of Nations finds that a drastic remedy is necessary. Nobody in France doubts that Germany is rearming. Several dependable French newspapers detail Germany's manufactures of bombing 'planes, heavy j artillery and gas, also the approaching completion of the mechanisation of the lieichswehr (national defence), the militarisation of the police and Storm Troops, which, it is significant, continue to be kept busy. The Chamber of Deputies recently passed a bill adjusting recruiting so as to maintain the Army at normality during the lean years from 1035 to 1938 due; to the low birth-rate during the wartime. Fiance is watching closely two monster Nazi demonstrations, one at Bingen and one at Niederwald, which are regarded as Herr Hitler's first public move in the campaign to win back the Saar for Germany.
