TARANAKI MAN GUILTY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday. Charged in the Supreme Court with stealing four doors and seven windows worth £0 10/, and alternatively with receiving, Frederick John Cowling was found guilty by the jury of receiving only. The house from which the articles were allegedly taken was subsequently destroyed bv fire. Mr. Justice Ostler said that the offence referred to in the charges was that of a cunning criminal, and the prisoner's conduct had shown that he was a cunning person with some criminal instincti A sentence of six months' hard labour was imposed, and an order was made for restitution of the doors and windows.
