BALLESr CUP SEMI-FINALS,

The semi-finals in the ■ Titirangi Golf Club's Ballin Cup competition were played on Saturday and resulted: —E. G. Tallis (4) beat J. M. Coltman (4), 1 up; L. J. Williamson (9) beat A. E. Saunders (11), 1 up. ♦ The first of three medal handicap rounds for the Self Cup was also played. Best scores: —R. B. Carr, 81—8—73; J. H. Young, 70—5 —74; A. C. Jacob, S8 —14— 74; G. H. Birch, 89—15—74; T. W. Vickery, 92 —18- —74 ; E. G. Tallis, 79 —4— 73 ; J. It. Coltman. 80—4—76 ; G. Coltman, S4 —8 —76 ; P. T. Gaskin, 87—11 —76 ; L. J. Clifford, 89—13—70. An open day will be held on Wednesday afternoon, when a four-ball bogey handicap will be played. The second round for the Self Cup will be decided next Saturday.

MATINGAKIEKIE LADIES' CLUB.

Results in eclectic match played by Saturday players of the Maungakiekie Ladies' Golf Club: —Miss IS. Gregson, 100— 27—73; Miss S. Ewen, 112 —36—7(>; Miss. C. Lloyd, 101 —-0 —SI; Miss Macdonald, 112—29—83.

GOLF IN THE PROVINCE,

In the first qualifying round of the Pukekolie Golf Club's championship' D. Coyle led the way. with a card of 79.- Miss L. Potter's: 93 was the best, performance in the ladies' event.

The outstanding result of the Onewhero Club's round was the marathon between Glasgow <24)' and Wilfrid Lawsori- (5), the former .winning at the twentieth green. C.y. B. arid A. HerrOld, 0 up, won the four-ball bogey at W'aiuku. There were three players all square in the Rotorua Club's bogey: R. C. Smith, J. Young and A. Ford. Candy, 83, led (he qualifiers for the Opotiki championship; Morton, 91 —24—<!7, winning the medal round played in conjunction. In the final of the Fortune Cup competition of the Wliakatnne Golf Club, Hyland defeated Powdrell, 2 up, after a keen tussle over 36 holes. R. L. Innis won the bogey, 1 down. Playing at St. Andrews links. To Rapa, G. 'Morpeth, vice-president of the Hamilton Golf Club, holed the fourteenth in one, a distance of 116 yards. C. E. Shakeshaft, 87 —10 —71, was the medal victor. Saturday's results at Rocky Downs Club: D. R. Abernethy won the trophy match, with H. Keeley 2 and N. Johnston 3. Glenfarno Cup : D. R. Abernethy and W. Casey, all square (a replay is necessary) ; Keeley beat Mentiplay, 6 and 4; N. Johnston beat Barkman, 3 and 2 ; J. Johnston won from Havworth by default. Walton Club's results :—Senior championship (first round) : F. James b»at N. Johnston, 6 and 5; C. Adams beat J. Blythe, 3 and 2; F. Crawford heat J. Dickie, 1 up. Junior championship (first round) : Brooks beat Halligan, 3 and 2 ; Given beat Carter, 2 up; Fulton beat Martin, 6 and 4; S. Brookes beat P. Davis, 1 up.
