(By Telegraph.—Own Coircsponiflejit.)
HAMILTON, Tuesday
Strong protests at proposals, • which have been supported by the Hamilton Borough Council, to remove Garden Place Hill were voiced at a public meeting last night, which was called to consider the establishment of an observatory on the eminence. It was decided to co-operate with all societies and persons interested in an endeavour to preserve the hill, which is situated in the centre of the business area of the town.
A further public meeting will be called for next Monday.
It was resolved to form an astronomical and meteorological society, the following officers being elected: President, Mr. A. Bryce; vice-presidents, Messrs. E. O. Johnson and K.. .K. Wragge; secretary-treasurer, Mr. J. Prenton.
