WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.

PAPAROA. On Wednesday an interesting afternoon was spent by the members, when Mrs. Rogers, the president, gave an interesting report on the Auckland Federation meeting, at which she was present as delegate. She also read a letter from the institute's link in England. The writer of the letter also sent a very useful cookery book, which will j be very much appreciated by the mem- j bers. Quite a nice lot of clothes were,i brought to be forwarded to Sister) Esther, and approximately three dozen knitted and crocheted Din squares were! brought by members. These will be joined together for cot quilts, lined with i warm blanketing, which has been given! by a member, and forwarded to the poor, and which the members hope will keep some tiny tots cosy and warm these wintry, cold nights'. Several pots of jam, sauce, etc., were also lirought for a table the members intend having each month for the Wairere relief camp, which is close by. The treasurer, Mrs. Dawson, gave an educative demonstration on bandaging. During the afternoon a little play, entitled "Aunt Jemima's Money," which is being prepared for the dramatic festival to be i held shortly, was presented, and much appreciated. Afternoon tea was served, by the hostesses, Mesdames Flyger.; Snowden, Fenwick, and the Misses Birtles and A. Sutherland.
