ABATTOIR WORK. — CITY COUNCIL EMPLOYEES. g TO-DAY'S CONFERENCE. At a further coufcrcncc between tho employers and the union assessors before the Conciliation Commissioner, Mr. P. Hallv, this morning, a complete agreement was reached in the dispute between the Auckland City Council and the l " abattoir assistants and freezing works i- employees. ' d At previous sittings of the Conciliation c Court agreement was reached except in the clause relating to the killing of pigs. It was urged on behalf of the union that this matter be submitted to the Arbitra3. tion Court for settlement, but after a debate at the City Council meeting last 1 Thursday it was decided, after a close " division, that a final conference be held, 6 and this accordingly took place this s ' morning. The result was a compromise between the rates sought by the union and those offered by the council.
