Jones, of Bidings Boad, Bemuera, has returned, with her children, to Auckland after spending a holiday on the West Coast of the South Is-land. * * * » Miss Margot St. Lawrence-Toner who hails from Auckland, is in London after touring America and the Continent. In New York she gave recitals for the Badio Corporation. Her sister, Madame Clair Tanqueray, whose husband is vioeConsul for France in New York, is with her. • » » ♦ Miss Jean Batten, the well-known Auckland airwoman, is giving people joy rides 011 the English beaches during the summer months, writes our London correspondent. She hopes to have a new 'plane in the autumn, to make a second attempt on the record to Australia. Miss Batten has a report from Bari saying that the cause of her crash was the breaking of a piston in the engine.
