IN BABY'S ROOM.
BURGLAR IN EPSOM HOUSE. ENTRY BY FANLIGHT. Two houses in Epsom were entered by a burglar last night, one being ransacked, but nothing was taken. Evidently the thief was disturbed while in the other house, for he left without searchfag it. Mr and Mrs. A. Paykel, whose home fe at the corner of Mt. St. John Avenue and Belvedere Eoad, went out for dinner at 6.40 p.m., leaving a maid in charge of the three-vear-old baby girl. ine bursar entered by a. fanlight and ransacked one of the bedrooms, but did not steal anything. Mr. Paykel returned home alone at 10 p.m. and saw a drawer pulled' out, but at the time thought that his son or daughter had left it that way. The intruder left the liouse after walking through the room where the child slept and making his exit by a door which led on to the verandah. The telephone rang at 0 o'clock and was answered bv the maid. It is believed that the thief was disturbed by this incident and left. Another house two doors away in Belvedere Road was also entered last Bight, but nothing was stolen.
