FAIRFIELD INSTITUTE.

At tlie May meeting Mrs. Chapman presided. The president, secretary and treasurer of the Hillcrest branch were among the visitors welcomed. Mrs. and Miss Hill demonstrated the making of baskets from pine needles. Miss Hill also gave a most interesting talk on Rhodesia, speaking from personal experience. The competition, "Any article, suitable for the stall at the show," resulted in a satisfactory array of articles. The first place was tied for by Mesdames Paterson and A. Waite, Mrs. Holland coming second. "The uses of a lemon" was the roll-call, and brought a number of good hints. A recitation was given by Mrs. Green. Sirs. Kelly was appointed official hostess and afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Hodgekinson, K., Holland and, Hubbard. I
