MUSEUM AFFAIRS.
ENDOWMENT FUND GIFT. The fact that the sum of £10 had ibeen given to the endowment fund of the War Memorial Museum by a public spirited person who wished to remain anonymous was reported to the council of the Auckland Institute and Museum by the director, Mr. G. Archey, yesterday. The donor had intimated that he would give a similar sum later on. In moving that thanks be expressed for tlio donation, Mr. H. E. Yaile said that the endowment fund was important in assuring "Uie future of the museum. Tho director reported that the bronzes and ivories of the Mackelvie collection, and the Indian weapons and armour had [been cleaned and displayed in separate cases. An introductory case to the gallery of mollusca, illustrating the five classes of mollusca, in a simple and instructive manner, was another change. It was announced that so far one nomination, that of Professor H. W. had boon received for the office of ° president. Sir James Parr and Messrs. J. C. Entrican, C. R. Ford and A. H. Johnstone had been nominated for the four vacancies on the council.
