I.R.A. UNLAWFUL.

CONDEMNED BY A BISHOP.

DUBLIN, May 5. "Membership of the Irish Republican Army is unlawful," said the Bishop of Achonry, in a warning to young men of his diocese. "The army is even more aggressive than when it first provoked the disfavour of the bishops. Now it is aimed at the creation, by arms, of something like a workers' republic, and the confiscation of the land that is the main source .of subsistence. This is opposed to tiie Pope's pronouncements.

"No quibble could exempt such a dangerous doctrine from the condemnation of the Church," said the bishop.
