DEBATING CONTEST.
UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM,
"That the unemployment problem in New Zealand is not capable of present solution," was the subject of last evening's opening debate in this years competition for the Athenaeum Cup. lhe Junior Chamber of Commerce team, taking the affirmative, defeated the St. John's College team by 214 points to 193. Mr. L. P. Leary was judge. The successful team was Messrs. W. J. H.-Clark, R. H. Swan and H. H. Innes. St. John's College, which won the competition last year, was represented by Messrs. E. G. Saker, A. P. Blair, and T. A. M. Curnow, an entirely new team.
