A NOTABLE VISITOR,
Miss Edith Thompson. C.8.E., an expresident of the All England Women's Hockey Association, and *ditor of the "Hockey Field," the principal paper devoted to women's hockey in England intends spending ft month in New Zealand' nnd hopes to witness a good deal of ladies 1 hockey in this country. Miss Thompson is on the Tamaroa and arrives in Auckland on Mny 24. Towards the end of June there lg likelihood of a New South Wales (Sydney 1 team calling at Auckland on its way to Suva, where it proposes to play. They are anxious to arrange games in Auckland both going and on the return from Suva' although they only anticipate being in port for six hours each time. • PAPATOETOE CLUB. The Papatoetoe senior hockey eleven fo; Saturday is :— Knight, McKenzie, Lusbv, Kerr Moore, Wheeler, Smytheman, Hamilton, Bay, Williams, Smytheman.
IN THE PROVINCE.
The hockey competitions at Tauranga were continued yesterday afternoon in fine weather. In the Innes Cup match, men's teams, Rovers defeated United by 3 goals to 1. In the ladies' games for the Harris Cup Old Girls 9, defeated Aretas 0, and Triers 5, defeated T.M.P. 1. Hockey competitions were commence# In Whakatane yesterday. Wliakatane lost to Poroporo by 8 goals to 7, and Waimana. defeated Wairaka by 9 goals to 3.
