PADDY'S MARKET.
CITY SCHOOLS' EFFORT. CHILDREN IN FANCY DRESS. With shining eyes, cowboys fraternised with gipsies, a Cossack went arm in arm with Father Christmas, and a fairy escorted a bride. There was a colourful little pageant at the Napier Street School this morning, when a Paddy's market was held to raise funds for the Beresford Street and Napier Street Schools. An invitation to, wear fancy dress for the occasion made the children enthusiastic, especially the small boys. One small boy went as " Bar 20," and sported a large toy revolver. It made him the envy of the others. Various stalls round the playground were gaily decorated, and business was brisk. There was a splendid response in the district to a bottle, and sack drive, and with several donations the amount already in hand is about £20. The funds will be used to buy extra teaching apparatus which is not supplied by the Education Board, and to assist the schools' funds. The City Boys' Band played this afternoon. * f»
