THE TRICK OF THE FLOATING BALL.

Place an iudiarubber. ball, about an inch and a half in diameter, in a bowl of water, and allow it to float on trie surface. Now get a number of boys and Q'irls to attempt to pick it up with their mouths, without using their hands in anv way. Probably, if they do n9t know tni? real secret of success in thi s trick, they will all fail, and certainly a great deal of fun will be created in the party at the efforts made by its various members. , The real method of raising the ball from the water is to approach it with the mouth open slightly and the lips pursed; then as the mouth touches the ball, to draw in the breath sharply, when the suction will hold the ball, and it may be lifted from the basin. Of course while raising the ball,'the breath must not be released, or the ball will fall into the water. We must wait till our pursed lips are actually on the ball, and it is well just before we raise the ball to breathe out as much as possible, as this will enable us to draw the ball to our the more easily. Any kind of ball of the required size will serve the purpose provided of course, that it will float. Girls and boys stand an equal chance in this game.
