BASKETBALL.
WHANGAREI ASSOCIATION,
There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Whangarel Basketball Association. Mr. R. T. Tudehope presided. The balance-slieet showed a credit balance of £9. Officers elected: — President, Mr. R. T. Tudehope; vice-presi-dents, Mrs. W. Jones, Mrs. Ventry-Smitli, Mr. H. N. Slmmonds; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. H. Gaulton; assistant secretary, Mrs. Ventry-Smith; hon. auditor, Mr. E. P. Ramsey. It was decided that no teams bo affiliated whose home grounds lie further than 12 miles from Whangarel.' This step was found necessary on aefcount of financial hardship when teams have to travel long distances. The opening day was- fixed'for May 25, and a tournament ■will be held June 3.
