AUCKLAND CLUB'S EXHIBITS

BIRDS OF EXCELLENT QUALITY.

There were 73 exhibits in the Auckland Yorkshire Canary Club's young bird show, which opened in the Unity Hall this afternoon. This number falls short by one o£ a record number of birds exhibited last year. The birds are of excellent all-round quality.

The secretary, Mr. S. D. Potter, said that the show was held under the rules of the newly-formed federation of cagebird clubs, and was a credit to both the club and the controlling body. "The club lias hopes, before many years, of exhibiting birds equal in every re6XJect to those aristocrats of the fancy seen at the world-famous Crystal Palace show," he remarked. Prizes were awarded as under:— Special Awards.—Best bird in show: •T. AitcUison. Best opposite sex: Miss Thorne. Best novice: w. A. Biuns. Best colour fed bird: V. Taylor. Best buff hen : V. Taylor. Best yellow hen : Miss Thorne. Best buff cock : F. Palmer. Best yellow cock: J. Aitchison.
