WEATHER BETTER.
MISSING TRAMPERS.
MEWS EXPECTED TO-DAY.
SEARCH PARTIES CONVERGING
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
MASTERTON, this day.
Tie weather in the Tararua Ranges has greatly improved to-day, and if the missing party of four trampere are still alive and have heen sheltering from the weather for the past nine days, -word should be received from them to-day.
Very grave doubts of their having survived the weather of the past week are entertained.
The following message from the hase camp' at Mitre. Flats was received this morning by carrier pigeon: "Party of eight coming out, arriving Pines 3 p.m. All country has been well combed, but no luck."
A party led by Mr. Ivan Ja«.keon left MaatertoU to-day ids' Mitre Plats with the intention of working across to Waio-hine-iti. This party should converge with the Tararua Tramping Club searchers, working across from Mount Holdsworth, and with a party coming across from the Levin side of the ranges. It is considered very probable that the missing-party will he in the Walohine-iti Valley or in the SuamaImnga Basing which is at present being searched by two parties from Eketahuna.
