LONDON, April 26.

Out of 12,000 works submitted, 1750 pictures and statues are exhibited in the Academy, which opens on Friday. Captain Oswald Birley, M.C., formerly of Auckland, is represented by a picture of Mr. Neville Chamberlain delivering his Budget speech, a portrait of Sir Abe Bailey, and a Spanish mountain scene. Mr. Alfred Baxter, New Zealand, and Hiss Eleanor Hughes, New Zealand, have seascapes. Other . exhibitors include Lady Scott, widow of the explorer, with a bust of Mr. Stanley Bruce.
