LURE OF GOLD.
MEN WITH SCANT CLOTHING,
STAY-OVER CAMP IN OTAGO
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
DUNEDIN, this day.
A number of men have arrived in Otago Central from many parts of the North Island inspired with hopes of easily-won gold. Some have arrived without money and with scant clothing, and to provide for such cases a stayover camp has been established at Cromwell.
The latest proposal in connection with the gold areas at-Cromwell Flat is one for the amalagamation of all interests with a view to all work being controlled by one company. There is considerable activity in the Bell, Hooper Company's property at Kawarau Gorge, where about 50 men will shortly find work on the. claim.
