TIME-TABLE WELL ADHERED TO.

The Avondale Jockey Club "appears to be one of the most unfortunate racing bodies in New Zealand as far as the weather is concerned, and their proverbial ill-luck in this respect was again demonstrated at their autiynn meeting, held on Saturday and Monday. Heavy rain fell overnight on Friday and showers — some very heavy ones, by hail, .fell on Saturday morning, while-intermittent rain squalls during the day made mattersunpleasant. On Monday it was also showery, but not nearly as bad as on Saturday. The meeting was got through in good style and some excellent racing was provided. A feature of the fixture was the manner in .which the time-table was adhered to.. Tlje races were < run throughout- practically- oil time, and when it is considered that this was the first time the club had to handle both straightout and place machines their effort most commendable and was the 'subject of favourable comment among patrons, who were thus allowed to reach their homes at a reasonable hour. The track stood the rain excellently, and there is no doubt, that the club has one of ; the>best: course* in New Zealand from-, a racing point of. view. With fine weather on both days they would have'shown a much more substantial tbtalisator turnover." * '
