RUGBY FOOTBALL.
THAMES VALLEY UNION. Mr. C. S. Foster presided over the annual meeting at Paeroa of the Thames Valley Rugby Union, ■when officials appointed for the ensuing year were :—Patron, Mr. H. Poland (Paeroa)); president, Mr. G. P. Lindsay (Te Aroha);. vice-presidents, Messrs. J. McDermott (Waihi), W. Marshall (Paeroa), H. T. P. Evans (Hauraki Plains) and'N. <Pryde (Te Aroha) ; .secretary, Mr. W. D. Nicholas (Paeroa) ; treasurer, Mr. J. H. Walmsley (Paeroa) ; auditor, Mr. G. B. Allen (Paeroa) ; representative on appointment board of Referees' Association, Mr. W. Moore (Paeroa) ; delegates to the New Zealand Rugby Union, Mr. W. D. Nicholas (Paeroa) ; executive committee, the president, secretary, treasurer and the chairman of the sub-unions; sole selector, Mr. F. Lockyr (Paeroa). The retiring president, Mr. C. S. Foster, was elected a life member of the union In recognition of his 30 years' service to Rugby in the district. It was decided to play the Frank Poland Memorial Cup competition in one round' Instead of two rounds as previously played.
BAY OP PLENTY UNION.
At the annual meeting of the. Bay of Plenty Rugby Union, held at Opottki, officers elected were:—Patron, the Hon. C. B. Macmillan; president, Mr. J. Guinness (Tauranga) ; secretary, Mr. S. Simmonds (Tauranga) : auditor, Mr. W. J. Ruddy; selectors, Messrs. F. J. Burt (Matata), Rigger (Tauranga), W. Burrett (Opotiki) ; ielegates to the New Zealand Union, Messrs. Guinness and Burrett. The first match for the Hurunui-Apanui Shield will be played by the holders. Opotiki, at Opotiki. on July S, against Apanui. Other unions drew in the following order; 'Ie PiJfce, Eangatriii.
