BILLY BOY'S HURDLES.

. \ Silver Scorn's Short Price.— President's to Caxfex.

The crack fifty Silver Scorn dominated the position in the Great Northern Qaks, in which she was opposed only by Prolyxo and Gold Musk. The favourite was at a very short price. Gold Musk led out of the barrier ana into the straight the first time, and passing the stands was four lengths in front of Silver Scorn, with Prolyxo about four lengths back, lietween the seven and six furlongs posts Silver Scorn raced into the lead, and across the top she was out eight. lengths in front of Prolyxo, who had moved into second place. Silver Scorn was about ten lengths in front turning into the straight and she cantered along to win by that distance from Prolyxo, with Gold Musk seven lengths back, third. The race was run at a very slow pace, the pactional times being: Half mile, 5G 3-ss; live furlongs, 1.10 3-5; six furlongs, 1.23; seven furlongs, 1.35, The first mile was covered in 1.48 3-5. Favourite Scores. Carfex and Aga Khan were best supported on both machines in the President's Handicap, and the summing up was good, as Carfex won, while Aga Khan filled third place. Psychologist was first out and led past the stand from Carfex, Aga Khan, Flying Prince, Jalldy Karo and Grand Talk, with Merry Damon last. Along the back Psychologist led Aga Khan and Carfex, who were racing together, and were followed by Jalldy Karo, Flying Prince, Chang, Seatown, Valroe, Alloy, Merry Damon and Whakapara. Psychologist led across the top from Aga Khan, Carfex, Grand Talk, Jalldy Karo, Flying Prince and Chang. Grand Talk was second to Psychologist turning into the straight, with Carfex Aga Khan, Flying Prince, Seatown and Chang handy. Carfex came along in the straight with a good run, and in a close finish with Grand Talk won by a head. Aga Khan was three lengths behind Grand Talk in third place, and then followed Flying Prince, Psychologist, Seatown, Chang and Alloy. The Hurdles. Prince of Orange was favourite on the ' win machine, but only third choice on the place machine in the Brighton Hurdles, the support accorded Lucess on the two machines being exactly the opposite to that accorded Prince of Orange. Emancipation was second fancy on both machines. At the first fence Prince of Orange, Cruachan, Lucess and Royal Visitor were the leaders in line, but then Prince of Orange took command, and Kawini fell at this fence. Prince of Onmge then took the lead, and going past the main stand was showing the way to Royal Visitor, Cruachan, Lucess, Billy Boy, Paddon, High Pitch,f Free Air, Imperial Prince and Emancipation, who were racing in that order. At the fence in front of the stewards' etand Imperial Prince came to grief, and Prince of Orange led along the back from Royal Visitor, Cruachan, High Pitch, Billy Boy, Lucess, Emancipation, Free Air and Paddon. Billy Boy then moved up fast, and across the top was in front from Royal Visitor, Cruachan, High Pitch, Prince of Orange, Lucess and Emancipation, the lastnamed commencing to make a forward move. Billy Boy turned into the straight in front of Lucess, Royal Visitor, Cruachan, Prince of Orange, High Pitch and Emancipation. Billy Boy went on to win by three-quarters of a length from Emancipation, who finished strongly and beat Royal Visitor by a neck for second place. Lucess was fourth, followed by Prince of Orange, Free Air, Cruachan, High Pitch and Paddon. The Easter. Golden Wings was responsible for a brilliant performance in winning the Easter Handicap. The son of Lackham, carrying top weight, 9.9, was in front from barrier to judge, and galloped the mile in 1.37 2-5, a record for the race. Sunny Sky and L'Allegro shared the favouritism, but there was plenty of support for Golden Wings and Gold Trail. At the jump-out Golden Wings was out first from Easer Rose, L'Allegro, Gold Trail and Sea Ruler. Along the back Golden Wings set the pace from L'Allegro, Eager Rose, Paganelli, Manawhenua, Inflation, Sunny Sky, Lady Quex, Aiguille and Gold Trail. Across the top Golden Wings was still making play in the lead from L'Allegro; Paganelli, Eager Rose, Lordly Knight, Sunny Sky, Inflation and Chief Cook. Golden Wings showed the way into the straight from L'Allegro, Paganelli, Lordly Knight, Mahawhenua, Sunny Sky and Lady Quex. Holding : off all opposition in the run to the judge, Golden Wings won brilliantly by a length and a quarter from Manawhenua, with Lordly Knight half a length away, third. Lady Quex and. Inflation dead-heated for fourth place, being followed by L'Allegro,..Chief Cook, Aiguille, Sea Ruler, Paganelli, Sunny Sky and Gold Trail. The pace was on all the wav, Golden Wings running the first furlong in 13 l-ss, two furlongs in 24 3-ss, three furlongs in 35 3-ss, halfinilc 495, five furlongs- 1.0, and the mile in 1.37 2-5. " •
