TURF CARNIVAL
SEVEN MEETINGS IN PROGRESS.
GOLDEN WINGS WINS EASTER.
METROPOLITAN TROTS AT ADDINGTON.
There are seven turf meetings scheduled for to-day in various parts of the Dominion.
Chief interest locally centres in the opening programme of the Auckland Racing Club at Ellerslie, where the weather is fine, the track in good order, and an excellent attendance. Other races are being held at Feilding, Hastings (Hawke's Bay Jockey Club), Tauherenikau (Wairarapa Racing Club) and Riverton, while there is a big trotting meeting at Addington (New Zealand Metropolitan Club) and another at Hawera.
At Ellerslie, Silver Scorn (Oaks) and Carfex (President's) were the first two winners of the A.R.C. meeting.
Billy Boy was victorious in the Brighton Hurdles, being followed home by Emancipation and Royal Visitor. Golden Wings scored in the Easter Handicap from Manawhenua and Lordly Knight.
