PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.
The Papakura Town Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr. H. E. McEntee, presiding. Pictures on Good Friday.—The board's attention was drawn to the fact that pictures were being advertised for showing on Good Friday. The board resolved to prohibit the showing of pictures on this day. "Anything but Polite."—Correspondence was received from a resident, Mr. H. D, Spinley, complaining that as far back as November, 1931, it had been decided to obtain the levels of a certain street, which were, by resolution ;of the board, to be referred to him, but that had not been done and he asked who. was.at fault. It looks as though the matter has been overlooked somewhere, but that is no reason for the man' to write in- this strain;' the letter is anything but polite," said the chairman. "We get a lot of . correspondence from Mr. Spmley, but no public purpose is served by , it,' arid I question whether we should receive it.' It was decided to write to Mr. Spinley answering certain points,- and intimating the attitude, of the board as expressed by the chairman. . ; . . , ,- : , ;, H j Arreara of ; Rates.—The Municipal Association .advised,' relative to', the question of payment of current rates, when arrears were outstanding, that ,the fact that curp rent rates-were paid would not debar a local body from taking steps to recover arrears in the usual .manner. The, chairman of the finance committee, Mr. H. E. McEntee, stated that nearly 83. per cent of current rates had been paid' last year. This was regarded as- particularly satisfactory.- ■ . . ■'
