Messrs. F. Campbell and B. L. Salmon have been elected the first life presidents of the New Zealand Football Association. . .
Sir Francis Bell, M.L.C., has juat celebrated his S2nd birthday, and he has been the recipient of many congratulatory messages.
Sir James Mills, chairman of directors of ffiie Union Steam Ship Company, who is in Wellington, will leave for England by the Rangitane on Thursday.
Dr. A. Martin Ross, of Otahuhu, who has been doing post-graduate work in England for the last .12 months, returned by the Marama this morning.
Captain and Mrs. J._ A.. Algie, of Takapuna, who have been on a.6l* months' holiday, visiting relatives and friends in Scotland, returned by the Marama this morning:
Commissioner J. Cunningham, head of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, will leave for Rotoroa and Pakatoa Islands on Wednesday on business. , He will conduct Easter services, at Hamilton.
Sir Henry Moncrieff Smith arrived m Auckland this morning by the Marama on a holiday visit. He has retired from the Indian Civil -Service after 35 years. For a number of years he was Speaker of the -Upper House.
Mr. Charles M. Turrell, Dominion superintendent of the New Zealand Shipping Company, has been elected to the New Zealand board of the company In future he will be designated general manager -for. New Zealand.
Mr. H. G. Miller, librarian at Victoria University College, Wellington, who has been absent' with Mrs.'Miller for a year, is expected to return, by the Remuera on May 13. Mr. Miller, who was a Rhodes Scholar, was awarded a Carnegie Fellowship. During W s absence abroad he visited many of the large universities in America and England.
Mr. F. W. Doidge, a former member of the "Auckland Star" literary staff, who- is now a director of the "Daily Express," ? Sunday Express," and " Evening Standard," left Auckland last evening on return to London, via Wellington, after a visit of six weeks. He was accompanied on the Limited by Mrs. Doidge. . They sail by the Kangitane on Thursday.
