Mr. C. J. Tunks left Auckland by the Limited last evening for the South. Mr. Roy C. Matthews, of Christchurch, has been appointed manager of the outdoor advertising branch of the. Railway Department. Mr. F. F. Lamb, known throughout the world as a leading philatelist, is in Auckland, at the Waverley Hotel. He is on his way' from the New Guinea goldfields to Jamaica. Lieut.-Commander W. H. Bremner, after having completed his period of service as naval intelligence officer at Wellington, leaves for Home on April 13. Mr. E. Casey, chief engineer of the New Zealand Railways, who came to Auckland from the scene of the recent railway subsidences, returned to Wellington by the express yesterday afternoon. Mr. A. T. Donnelly, chairman of the management committee of the New Z?aland Cricket Council, Mr. 17. H. Whisor, secretary, and Mr. 13. E. Wanklyn, a member of the committee, will arrive in Auckland from Christchurch to-morrow to witness the Test cricket match. Mr. James Archibald Valentine, of New Plymouth, has been appointed to the Senate of the University of New Zealand by his Excellency the GovernorGeneral, in place of Mr. T. H. Macky, who lias resigned. Mr. Macky was senior inspector of schools in Taranaki from 1020 to 192(i, when he retired. He {has been a member of the Taranaki Education Hoard since 1929.
