UNEMPLOYMENT FUNDS.
ART UNION PItOCEEDS,
At a meeting of the Auckland Metropolitan Unemployment Belief Coinmitteo held yesterday it was decided to ask the Minister of Employment, the Hon. A. Hamilton, when ho visits Auckland this week, to arrange for the relief committees of the four principal centres |to receive half the proceeds of all art I unions held under permits issued by the !Minister of Internal Affairs,
Reports showed that there had been! no additions to the funds of tho committee for tho last four months, the amount now in hand being £1427, sufficient to cover operations for two months of the winter period provided work was carried on on last year's scale. The committee haft received £7279 to date. It was stated that art unions showed an average return of about £14,000. One wa 3 drawn approximately every six weeks. If half the proceeds were allocated to tho four committees, Auckland would be in receipt of a steady income to meet winter expenditure of from £000 to £800 a month.
