REGULATIONS SOON.
THE SALES TAX ACT. WHOLESALERS' LICENSES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. In connection with the licensing of wholesalers and manufacturing retailers under the Sales Tax Act, it is announced that unforeseen difficulties have arisen which have delayed the gazetting of the necessary regulations prescribing the forms to be used. The Minister of Finance, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, statee that the Government is desirous that particulars required by the forms should as far as possible be readily obtainable from the existing accounting books of the various classes of taxpayers concerned. Thie has necessitated a considerable amount of inquiry and a consequent delay in issuing regulations. It is expected the regulations will be issued at an early date, but in view of the circumstances indicated no action will be taken by the Government merely because persone have not been duly licensed, provided that applications for licenses are received by the collectors of sales tax within 21 days after the gazetting of the regulations.
