HARMONY DESIRED.
MANUFACTURERS' EFFORTS. WORKING WITH FARMERS". (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. The general secretary of the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation stated to-day that manufacturers had always been "most anxious to work in harmony with the farmers. The federation had never issued any criticism or any (statement with reference to farm industries except when forced to do eo in answer to some attack upon manufacturers. It was to be deplored that several of the farmers' leaders had recently made public statements which were bound to antagonise urban industries and provoke counter-attacks, to the detriment of the farmers. However, the position to-day of both farmers and manufacturers was. so serious that instead of fighting each other, they should work together on the common ground of their being alike producers whoee interests were largely identical.
