THIEF IN REMUERA.

JEWELLEBY WORTH £27 STOLEN. Jewellery. valued at f27 was stolen by a thief who entered a house in Kemuera Road yesterday afternoon during the absence of an elderly woman who lives alone.

The woman left her home securely locked at 1.30 p.m. She returned at 5.30 p.m. to find that a window near the front door had been forced open with a jemmy, or other instrument. Although a thoroiigh search was made for money and valuables, the rooms visited were not ransacked or left in disorder. Other valuables were left behind by the thief, who was apparently disturbed.
