AIRCRAFTSMAN SHAW.

APPLICATION FOR DISCHARGE. LONDON, March 14. Aircraftsman Shaw, otherwise the famous "Lawrence of Arabia," has applied for his discharge from the Air Force. Colonel T. E. Lawrence changed his name to Shaw in 1927. He had previously carried out exploration work in Arabia and rendered valuable aid during the war because of his intimate knowledge of the Arabs and his remarkable disguises as a native. His exploits earned him the title, "Lawrence of Arabia." Later he was adviser on Arab affairs to the Colonial Office.

When he changed his name he enlisted in the Air Force as a private, and for a time was in India.
