KUMEU RATEPAYERS.
A meeting of the Kumeu and District Ratepayers' Association was held last week, Mr. J. Lambden presiding over a good attendance of members. Owing to the fact that the apple season is in full swing and many small growers are unable to pack and consign fruit by the 5 p.m. train, it was decided to ask the Railway Department to arrange for the 9.30 p.in. train to pick up at least one truck load each evening. It was decided to forward the following resolution to the Waitemata Power Board: "That while the association appreciates the board's efforts ( to cheapen electricity, itconsiders that instead of making a rebate to light consumers only, an increased general rebate would be more equitable." The meeting decided to protest to the Government against the proposal to establish a central bank under private ownership.
It was decided to call a general meeting of the Waitemata county ratepayers toward the end of February' at Kumeu to discuss administrative costs, derating and currency reform. Mr. C. E. Davis was elected as organising secretary.
