MILFORD CHAMPIONS FETED.
A welcome home was accorded the Milford Surf Club's team on Snnday afternoon in honour of their win in the Auckland Provincial championships at Tauranga, when they succeeded in gaining the Speedo Shield for the first year. The numerous spectators were addressed by Mr. J. Guinfven (Mayor of Takapuna), Mr. G. Gibson (club president) and Mr. A. B. Coleman (beach marshal). Compliments were paid to the Mllford captain, Frank Marriage, who gained top marks against experienced rivals in his first appearance in competition work; to O. Olesen, the beltman, who gained fastest tirpe, and R. Webster, who, arter only five weeks' instruction, gained a tie for top marks as reelman. The Milford girls' team was present, and a combined land drill display, under the command of Miss Armitage, was followed by a seven-man run out by the champion Milford team. A collection was taken to defray expenses, and was generously augmented by donations of '30/ from Mr. J. Guiniven and £1 by Mr. K. Reid.
