ENGLISH CRICKET TACTICS.
It is with a feeling of regret that Tread of Mr. A. J. Harding's personal attack upon members of the Australian team. I, too, old enough to go back thirty years and further, and I impugn the accuracy of Mr. Harding's statement. E. Jones, Gregory "and McDonald never once in their bowling career ?et out to win a match with concentrated aetipn on the "man." They have, as any fast bowler occasionally does,- struck the batsmen, but fast, high-kicking, short-pitched, useless aid unplayable balls, with five men clustered around to pounce on the ball falling from tie bat held to guard the body, was emphatically unknown in amy youth, and I feel sure will |be forgotten after tihis series of Tests. It: is akin to the football term "putting the boot in." I say "present" Jardine's men with-the
