HIGHER WOOL PRICES.

EXCHANGE RATE HELPS.

GOOD SALE AT CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. An advance of from a farthing to a halfpenny in the price of halfbred and fine crossbreds, irrespective of exchange increase, was a feature of the second Chriatchurch wool eale this afternoon. With halfbreds averaging about lOd farmers had the additional advantage of lid per lb through exchange, this bringing halfbreds up by from ljd to 2d on the first sale. Anything below fortysixes showed little or no improvement, apart from exchange. Bradford was quiet over the early stages, but the rest of the buyers were in the bidding. The quality of the clips, which included the best of the season's fine wools, was scarcely equal to last season's. The best price was 14id for four bales of super Corriedale. Another lot of eight bales brought 14d. As evidence Of the keen character of the eale fewer than 200 bales were passed, a record at local auctions. Following is the range of prices, those at the sale last month being given for purposes of comparison:—
