SOUTH ROAD PAVING.

FRANKLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

COUNCIL AUTHORISES MONEY. A resolution intended to operate as a special order was passed by the Franklin County Council yesterday authorising the raising of a loan of £23,000 over the whole of the county for the construction and paving of the Great Soutli Road from Papakura to Mercer. The estimated cost of the work is £103,000, and over 50 relief workers are at present on the road effecting preliminary repairs. The commencement of the permanent work depends on the ability of the Highways Board to find the money. . The County Council has recenea authority to expend £1421 18/2 on the reshaping and widening of the road.
