tuakau relief works
NO FURTHER ALLOCATIONS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TUAKAU, Wednesday. Advice has been received by the certifying officer at Tuakau, Mr. H. C. Foster, from the Unemployment Board, to the effect that from the end of the current week no more allocations will be made to Tuakau for unemployment relief works. The board contends that the few registered unemployed at Tuakau should be able to obtain seasonal work. , . .i The Tuakau Town Board has only six men on relief works, those outside of its area, although close to the town, being registered with the Franklin County Council. _ __ The Town Board chairman, Mr. A. ii. Tapper, when interviewed, said he did not desire to make a statement until he ascertained whether other town boards had been treated likewise In all probability a special meeting ol the board will be held to discuss the question.
