The "News-Chronicle" states that the Rev. Irving Benson, formerly of Melbourne, welcomes recent criticism of the Abbey monuments as voicing what thousands have felt for years, namely, that it is high time to clear out some of the. monstrosities and memorials of insignificant people which are marring the Abbey.
Mr. Benson says he hopes a commission will be set up to consider weeding out find adding spiritual suggestiveness to the dignified simplicity of the Empire's parish church.
