MOONLIGHT PICNIC PARTY.
CRAFT NOT INSURED. (By Telegraph.—rress Association.) BLEXTIEIM, this day. The large 80-passcnger motor launch Tino Pai, recently built in Auckland for Mr. M. Steel, of Pieton, was totally destroyed by fire while anchercd at Torea Ja6t night.
A party was ashore enjoying a moonlight picnic when the fire occurrcd. The launch, which cost £2000, was not insured.
The Tinopai wag a 45ft motor launch, and was launched fror|i the yard of Collinge and Bell at Pongonby on November 19. After trial trips ut" Auckland tbc Tinopai left for Picton in charge of Captain A. Pypcr, formerly of the Union Steam Ship Company, and carrying the owner. Mr. M. Steele, and a crew ot" five. The trip down the East Coast was uneventful, except that rough weather was met with when nearing Wellington. The Tinopai was specially built for holiday cruising on Marlborough Sounds, and could carry 80 passengers comfortably.
