WHEAT HOLD-UP.
FARMERS COMBINING. Outcome of Disastrous Fall of World Prices. AUSTRALIA AND CANADA. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 11.30 a.m.) RUMSEY (Alberta), December 6. Lacking the support of any organised body in their home provinces, the farmers of Rumsey, who last month called upon Western Canada's growers to refuse seed wheat next spring, have received the following cable: —"The wheat growers of the union of West Australia are not delivering wheat this harvest. A hold-up is general." Being informed of the cable, Mr. John McNaughton, leader of the Rumsey movement, declared: "We congratulate the fanners of West Australia. If the Australians cannot afford to market wheat at twice the price we are getting, it is positive proof that we should stop producing until our monetary and social systems arc adjusted so that we will get at least the cost of production. "We are glad to know that the producers of other countries are going to make an effort also to adjust the present conditions." The Alberta Wheat Pool at its annual meeting has already debated wheat holding, and has proposed a strike without taking action. The resolution on a farm strike still awaits action by the United Farmers of Alberta.
