AUCKLAND ROTARY CLUB.
ADDRESS BY NEW BISHOP.
President T. U. Wells occupied the chair at to-day's weekly lunch meeting of the Auckland Rotary Club, held in Milne and Choyce's Reception Hall today. There was a large attendance, and among the visitors were Messrs. J. Abel, S. F. Wright, W. J. Walker, and F. Jones (Wellington). Reference was made to the recent death of Mrs. Clark, the mother of Eotiirian John Clarlc, and at the chairman's request members stood for a few moments in silence as a mark of sympathy. The president mentioned that the next district conference would be held in PaTmerston North on the last two days of February and the first of March. The speaker of the day was the Rt. Rev. W. H. Baddeley, Bishop of Melanesia, who was introduced by the president as one who had been prominent in war service from 1915 to the Armistice and later had been active in Rotary work, having been a foundation member and a Rotary president in Yorkshire. Bishop. Baddeley extended- his thanks for the hearty welcome received in New Zealand and gave a brief address on Rotarian experiences in Yorkshire and the north-eastern counties of England. The vote of thanks was- moved by Rotarian J. Gentles.
