Sir Otto Niemeyer Engaged By Argentina. STUDY OF FINANCES. BUENOS AYRES, November 27. The Minister of Finance, Dr. E. Uriburo, announced yesterday that Sir Otto Niemeyer, of the Bank of England, hag contracted to advise Argentina on economics and finance. Sir Otto will come • to Buenos Ay res to study the financial and economic situation and make suggestions to the Government, especially about measures regarding exchange, banking control and currency. Sir Otto's engagement follows the resignation of five members of the domestic Honorary Advisory Board, whose advice the Minister of Finance has rejected. This was for a moratorium on foreign and internal d&bt and the issue of additional paper currency. LOCAL BODY FINANCES. LARGE SAVINGS RECOMMENDED (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, November 27. Savings in expenditure from rates and taxes amounting to between £38,000,000 and £43,000,000, compared with 1929-30, are recommended in two reports on local economy in England, Wales and Scotland, made by committees set up in July. These committees reached their recommendations after surveying the entire field of local expenditure, particularly on education, housing, roads, public health and public assistance. HINDENBURG'S TASK. SEARCH FOR CHANCELLOR. BERLIN, November 27. The President, Marshal von Hindenburg, has conferred with the ex-Chan-cellor, Herr von Papen, and General Schleicher, Minister of Defence, regarding the political situation. _ He will confer with Baron von Neurath, Foreign Minister, to-day.
