BODY FOUND.
COROMANDEL COAST. CLAD IN BATHING COSTUME. TAKAFUNA DROWNING VICTIM 1 (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. The body of a man, clad in a onepiece black bathing suit, was found by two relief workers at 10 a.m. yesterday on the beach at Whangahumi, south of Waiaro, Coromandel. It is thought it is the body of Mr: Edward E. Grimwade, who disappeared while bathing off Takapuna Beach on November 17. Relatives of the missing man arrived to-day to identify the body, which is that of a man between 50 and 70 years of age, with grey hair, bald at the top, about sft 9in in height. Constable Peters and the district coroner, Mr. J. W. Rhodes, yesterday carried the body a considerable distance to a motor lorry, which conveyed it to the morgue in Coromandel. The inquest was opened last evening, and adjourned sine die. LATE MR. E. E. GRIMWADE. "EARNED THE HIGHEST ' ESTEEM." A tribute to the late Mr. E. E. Grimwade, who was drowned while bathing at Takapuna on November 17, was paid by the Rev. R. Hailey Trill, vicar of St. Peter's Church, Takapuna, at the special memorial service last evening. Representatives of the Takapuna Masonic Lodge and the Takapuna Borough Council were included in the. congregation. Mr. Grimwade, said Mr. Trill, had been a Mason of high standing and an upright business man who had earned the highest esteem of his associates in the church, in commerce and in the world of sport. In the capacity of a teacher, he had endeared himself to the children of the Sunday school. The service was conducted by Mr. Trill, who was assisted by the Rev. G. T. Robson. The "Dead March" was played by the organist, Mr. Foster Brown. At a memorial service for children in the afternoon, the Rev. W. G. Monckton, for many years vicar of the parish, was the preacher.
