RIFLE SHOOTING.
AUCKLAND DEFENCE CLTJB.
The Auckland City Defence Rifle Club fired the first round of the service championship at Penrose last Saturday under fairly good conditions. The practices were as follows: —Five rounds grouping at -a vards, Ave rounds application, five rounds snapshooting and 1 10 rounds rapid at 200 vards, and five rounds application at 300 yards, the possible score being 150. bcores off the rifle: — „„ „„ . The second shoot of the second trophy series of the Akaxana Rifle Club championship was fired over the ranges of 200 yds and 300 yds for trophies presented by Messrs. J. Hislop, S. Elliott, and A. M. Richardson. Conditions, although appearing perfect for good shooting, deceived even, the most experienced marksmen. Silver spoons were won by R. Wakefield, A. M. Jenklnson and T. Holmes.
