ROWING.
NORTH SHORE REGATTA. BEJtfsETT SHIELD COMPETITION. The regatta organised by the North Shore Rowing Club took place on Saturday under somewhat adverse conditions. A strong westerly wind against the flood tide raised a rough sea, and it was impossible to row the races over the original course. A change was made to the stretch of water from the North Head to the Devonport wharf, and the races provided some good rowing. Before the activities commenced the club president, Mr. W. F. M. Mao Loan welcomed the visitors and explained that the club's object in holding the regatta was, in addition to assisting the difficulty that had arisen over the tnterclub races, to further cement the bonds of friendship that should exist in all sports, and it was hoped this would effected by this regatta.
