'PLANE SAVES TIME.
FATHER PILOTED BY SON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. To attend the annual meeting of the Coal Mine Owners' Federation in Wellington, the Southland member, Mr. W. Excel], made the journey by air. Mr. Excell's pilot was his son, Mr. G. Excell, a member of the Southland Aero Club. The journey was made in one of the club's Moth machines. Excellent flying conditions were encountered until the aeroplane was near Wellington, when it ran into a fairly strong breeze. Stops were made at Dunedin, Timaru,. Christchurch, and Blenheim. The flyers landed at Rongotai at 3 p.m. yesterday, and intend to leave for the South at eight o'clock to-morrow morning. "Travelling by aeroplane from Southland has meant a big saving of time," said Mr. Excell, jun. "Moreover, the total cost as far as the machine is concerned is £18, which is not more than the cost of land and sea transport for the two of us."
